IU Health is now offering charge pay for a Labor and Delivery (L&D) RN. Shift details include 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The job order starts on 07/27/2026 and ends on 10/26/2026, lasting 13 weeks. The RN will work 36 hours per week, with guaranteed hours of 8 and 10-hour shifts. The position requires 1.5 years of L&D experience, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate course certification. Locals are not accepted, and the candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Floating to Methodist Hospital ED is required, with a 30-minute early arrival for orientation on the first shift. The RN will provide OB-specific care alongside a primary RN. The position requires L&D travel experience, facility births between 200-300 per month, and skills in EFM, diabetes mellitus, malpresentations, multiple gestation, placenta previa/abruptio, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, RH incompatibilities, uterine rupture, VBAC management, use of external and internal fetal monitoring, and recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns. The candidate must also be proficient in administration of blood & blood products, drawing venous blood, starting and maintaining peripheral IV, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, prostaglandins, terbutaline, amnioinfusion, assist with high-risk delivery, assist with vaginal delivery, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock, recover C-section, APGAR scores, baby nurse, collect cord samples, ID/security banding, neonatal resuscitation, radiant warmers/thermoregulation, infant identification, newborn assessment, newborn hypoglycemia, thermoregulation, epidural anesthesia, general anesthesia, opioids, pain assessment & management, Foley catheter insertion, fundus/lochia/perineum care, wound assessment and care, vaginal delivery, cesarean section, bladder distension, couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy induced hypertension, vaccine administration, and Cerner charting experience.
