Litigation Associate - Personal Injury

This is a chance to own a meaningful caseload of personal injury matters at a firm that backs its attorneys with real resources, collaborative partners, and a clear path to courtroom experience - from first demand letter through verdict.

What you'll do

• Own the full litigation lifecycle on a personal injury caseload: client intake, case assessment, strategy, and resolution

• Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery, demand letters, settlement agreements, and court filings

• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on substantive and procedural tort issues

• Prepare for and attend mediations, depositions, hearings, and trials; coordinate witnesses and exhibits

• Lead settlement negotiations and trial advocacy in partnership with senior attorneys

• Communicate proactively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and third parties to manage expectations and deliver updates

• Support junior associates and paralegals through mentoring and workflow collaboration as the team grows

What you need

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

• 3+ years of litigation experience with a demonstrated personal injury focus (plaintiff or defense background welcome)

• Hands-on experience drafting pleadings, managing discovery, taking depositions, and preparing cases for trial

• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload, juggle competing deadlines, and keep partners and clients informed

• Active bar admission in North Carolina or eligibility and intent to be admitted within a short timeframe

Nice to have

• Experience with case management software (e.g., Filevine, Litify, or similar)

• Proficiency with Westlaw or Lexis for complex legal research

• Prior experience mentoring junior staff or paralegals
