Precision Grinding Quality Inspector A day in this role

You arrive to the Grinding Department ready to champion quality. Your first task: verify a first-piece against the print and specifications, using calibrated gauges and following the departmental quality plan. Through the shift, you move between work cells, measuring critical dimensions on processed parts, recording inspection results in the company system, and flagging any nonconformances so the right people are notified immediately. When changeovers occur, you lend a hand to setup personnel with attachments and tooling, and you pitch in across the area—operating equipment, packing, or material handling—so production stays on track. At times you’ll manually lift components or use hoists/cranes to position them safely. Throughout, you model Amsted Rail’s safety, ergonomics, and environmental standards.

• Follow all plant-wide safety, ergonomics, and environmental practices outlined by the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program.
• Measure dimensions of machined/fabricated parts to print and specs using gauges per the departmental quality plan.
• Support first-piece inspections and check product condition for defects.
• Assist setup personnel with changeovers and attachments across work lines/cells.
• Record inspection/test data and production run details accurately in the company computer system.
• Segregate suspect product and promptly notify appropriate personnel/supervisors of issues.
• Lift and position machine components manually or with hoists/cranes.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including equipment operation, packing, and material handling.

• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
• Able to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs.
• Consistently wear employer-provided PPE required by the department.
• Comfortable standing and moving throughout the department for a full shift.
• Mechanical aptitude; prior industrial/manufacturing experience is a plus.
