Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and engaging Afterschool Teacher to provide children with a safe and enjoyable environment once their regular school day has ended.

The ideal candidate can combine supervision with educational support and recreational activities while maintaining a positive atmosphere for school-aged children.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities

• Supervise children throughout the afterschool program
• Provide a smooth and welcoming transition from school to afterschool activities
• Assist children with homework, reading, and other school-related assignments
• Organize age-appropriate games, crafts, projects, and enrichment activities
• Encourage cooperation, responsibility, and positive peer interactions
• Help maintain appropriate classroom routines and expectations
• Assist with snacks and scheduled transitions
• Monitor attendance and maintain required program documentation
• Keep activity areas clean, safe, and organized
• Provide positive guidance when addressing behavioral concerns
• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians
• Work with other staff to ensure the program operates smoothly
• Follow established safety, childcare, and program procedures

Requirements

Qualifications

• CDA, TCC, Associate’s Degree, or higher in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Previous afterschool teaching experience preferred.
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
• Must successfully complete all required background checks.
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
