We are seeking a hands-on Lead Data Scientist to support a leading telecommunications organization through a six-month consulting engagement with potential conversion to a full-time role.

Job Description

This role sits within the client's Customer 360 (C360) team and is ideal for a data scientist who enjoys working directly with data, uncovering meaningful insights, and translating analysis into actionable business recommendations. You'll work in a client data sandbox to investigate patterns, identify signals, and help determine what the business should be measuring to better understand customer outcomes and the impact of AI initiatives.

The ideal candidate is an independent operator who thrives with minimal oversight, is genuinely fascinated by data, and enjoys getting into the details of analytical problems. While this is not a traditional client-facing consulting role or a people management position, strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders are essential.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that connect data science, customer analytics, and AI-driven business outcomes, helping teams understand how to measure success and identify opportunities for improvement.

The Details:

• Location: Hybrid 3 days per week onsite in Stamford, CT
• Duration: 6-month consulting role with potential conversion to hire (must be able to work on Blend’s W2 without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future)

What you’ll do:

Data Analysis & Business Insights

• Work hands-on with data within the client's analytical sandbox to investigate business questions and uncover meaningful insights.
• Analyze customer and business data to identify patterns, signals, and trends that can inform decision-making.
• Explore available data to help determine what the business should be measuring and why those measurements matter.
• Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable conclusions and recommendations.
• Investigate opportunities to improve how data is used to understand customer behavior, engagement, and business performance.
• Apply curiosity, critical thinking, and a methodical approach to uncovering insights from complex datasets.

AI Initiative Measurement & Success Metrics

• Help define and establish success metrics for AI initiatives developed through the Customer 360 program.
• Identify relevant KPIs and leading indicators to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of AI-driven initiatives.
• Support the development of measurement approaches for business outcomes such as return on investment (ROI), customer engagement, and customer lifetime value (CLTV).
• Analyze data to assess initiative performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Partner with stakeholders to connect analytical findings to business objectives and measurable outcomes.
• Help establish a clear understanding of how success should be defined, tracked, and evaluated across AI initiatives.

Independent Problem-Solving & Collaboration

• Operate independently, managing analytical work with minimal day-to-day oversight.
• Take ownership of assigned projects and work through ambiguity to identify the appropriate analytical approach.
• Collaborate with members of the Customer 360 team and relevant business stakeholders to understand priorities and deliver meaningful insights.
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and potential implications in a clear and accessible manner.
• Use sound judgment and interpersonal awareness to navigate stakeholder interactions and adapt communication to the audience.
• Balance deep technical analysis with the ability to explain what findings mean for the business.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Experience working as a hands-on data scientist, with a strong interest in exploring data and uncovering insights.
• Demonstrated ability to independently analyze data, investigate business questions, and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Experience identifying or developing KPIs, success metrics, or other approaches for measuring business performance.
• Ability to translate data-driven findings into actionable business recommendations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a genuine curiosity about how data can inform business decisions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and take ownership of analytical projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Professional judgment and interpersonal awareness, with the ability to understand stakeholder needs and communicate effectively in different situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting AI initiatives, analytics programs, or data-driven business transformation.
• Experience defining and tracking metrics related to ROI, customer engagement, customer lifetime value (CLTV), or other business outcomes.
• Background in telecommunications, customer analytics, customer experience, or related industries.
• Experience working with customer data, behavioral signals, or business performance indicators.
• Familiarity with Customer 360 initiatives or similar customer-focused analytics programs.

Additional Information

The starting pay range for this role is $70-75 per hour. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent on several factors including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, training, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range and determining factors for compensation are considered for each individual circumstance.
