Fleet Supervisor

Location City of Industry, California, United States Description Supervise day‑to‑day shop activities and fleet mechanics providing preventative and corrective maintenance for DFA‑owned equipment. Plan, schedule, and document repair work to ensure all work is done safely, compliantly, efficiently, and cost‑effectively. Responsibilities Create and execute the daily/weekly plan for assigned shop location(s) to accomplish preventive maintenance and set or reevaluate priorities based on location needs. Supervise the financial status of assigned location(s) and monitor and control labor, supplies, and cost. Oversee shop inventory control to ensure equipment and parts levels are maintained and purchases within budget. Review and approve expenses within approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to manager as appropriate. Monitor operational performance and efficiency; assist in identifying and implementing continuous improvement and customer satisfaction opportunities. Review EDVIRs & DVIRs, communicate service needs to manager, and ensure proper chain of custody for daily paperwork, work orders, and parts usage via fleet management software or other programs. Manage adherence to safety procedures and policies established by company policy, OSHA, and DOT laws. Perform inspections of internal and outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with company’s safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations; follow up as appropriate. Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems for advanced preventive and repair maintenance of heavy equipment and vehicles used by the Company. Assist in routine environmental, safety, OSHA, and DOT compliance and reporting for assigned location. Develop and maintain professional relationships with local and national vendors for best pricing and quality work. Actively promote a safety culture; work with safety and environmental manager on investigations and corrective actions resulting from injuries/accidents, audits, or employee concerns. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized fleet maintenance facility. Create employee schedules, approve timecards/time off requests, and work with HR to resolve any payroll issues. Complete annual performance reviews. Coach, counsel, and discipline employees; interview and hire new employees. Train and direct fleet maintenance personnel on safest and most efficient methods of performing preventative maintenance and repairs. Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent and 2 to 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance (diesel engine, heavy equipment repair) with demonstrated leadership attributes or team lead experience. Technical degree in diesel engine or heavy equipment repair industry preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Certification/Licenses: ASE Master Truck Certified preferred; Certified Automotive Fleet Management (CAFM) Financial Systems, CAFM Risk Management, CAFM Information Management preferred; commercial driver’s license preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA, and other federal and state regulations. Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems. Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations. Basic arithmetic skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure). Root‑cause problem‑solving ability. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong customer service orientation. Organizational skills to manage time, energy, and resources effectively. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to collaborate, coach, develop, engage, and retain a team of employees. Conflict resolution skills. Adaptability to changing organizational and operational needs. Fluent reading, writing, and speaking in English. Compensation Competitive pay based on experience: $71,880 to $133,490. PTO vacation. Travel No travel required. 5%–15% (1–3 times per year). 15%–25% (1–2 times per quarter). 25%–50% (up to 1 week per month). 50%–75% (up to 2 weeks per month). 75%–100% (3+ weeks per month).
