Asphalt Roller Operator
The Asphalt Roller Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment to compact and smooth freshly laid asphalt on roadways, parking lots, and other surfaces. This role ensures a consistent, high-quality finish and safe work environment according to project specifications and safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt rollers and related heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Compact, smooth, and finish freshly laid asphalt using roller machines.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and basic maintenance checks of the equipment.
- Follow all site safety procedures and company policies.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of job sites as required.
- Monitor the material and surface for uniform coverage and density.
- Communicate effectively with ground crew and other operators.
- Document work activities and report equipment issues or unsafe conditions.
- Ensure tidiness and proper care of assigned tools and equipment.
- Perform additional labor duties as needed to support the paving crew.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proven experience operating asphalt rollers or similar heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with construction site safety protocols.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in heavy equipment operation or related field.
- Experience with hand tools and basic asphalt maintenance techniques.
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety certification.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Work Environment
- Outdoor work environment exposed to changing weather conditions.
