Systems Engineer

Description The Leidos Security and Engineering Programs (SEP) is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Center for Information Systems Security (CISS) program. This position requires the ability to work flexible hours in Washington DC with as‑needed travel to Chantilly, VA (under 25%). Work Schedule Monday‑thru‑Friday: 2:00 PM–10:30 PM Primary Responsibilities Performs the integration of new COTS/GOTS systems (network equipment, servers, workstations, etc.) into the production environment, responsible for ensuring mission readiness. Manages change controls for documentation within an IT Service Management Tool (ITSM) and Configuration Management database (CMDB) and performs corrective action on any discrepancies or findings. Develops technical solutions and resolves complex user, computer, server, network, appliance, and application issues; records, manages, and updates these solutions in a knowledge database and ticketing system. Reviews data from a DoD Network Monitoring System, analyzes historical data, and proactively audits systems to ensure compliance with program requirements, assessing and remediating risks and incidents. Once trained on the program‑specific equipment, serves as an expert in the area of responsibility, analyzes issues, makes remediation recommendations to management, and carries out those remediation processes. Creates technical documentation (SOPs, KBAs, etc.) to help junior staff reduce escalation numbers. Basic Qualifications BS degree and 8years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience; alternatively, a high school diploma with an additional 2 years of relevant experience may be considered. Interim Top‑Secret clearance is required with the ability to obtain a Final Top Secret. Experience with Windows Server administration tools: WSUS, Group Policy, Active Directory, RDP, DNS, DHCP. Mid‑to‑High Level RHEL troubleshooting. Low‑to‑Mid Level Windows11 and Windows Server2022/2025 troubleshooting. GOTS/COTS application, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Industrial computer and Dell systems installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Tier3 Systems Administrator support. Proactive leader and team player with strong communication, management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills; proven ability to thrive in environments that constantly embrace new technology. AWS virtualization, networking configuration, and troubleshooting. Docker configuration and troubleshooting. Database installation, configuration, and troubleshooting (PostgreSQL, MariaDB, etc.). Preferred Qualifications Lifecycle management experience (PC Imaging & Disposition). Knowledge of Network Monitoring tool management such as OpManager, SolarWinds, PRTG. Experience with ServiceNow On‑Premise application and database server. Experience with virtualization. Infrastructure equipment troubleshooting such as Tripplite or Eaton UPS, fiber and/or Ethernet installation/termination, and electronic testing and metering equipment. Ticket tracking system experience (Remedy, ServiceNow, SharePoint). Prior experience in a Network Operations Center environment or Tier3 Helpdesk. Basic Juniper and Palo Alto Tier1 troubleshooting experience. Experience with CMD/Terminal/PowerShell/other CLI. Pay Range Pay Range: $107,900.00–$195,050.00 (general guideline only; additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and alignment with market data).
