Retail Assistant Store ManagerThe Retail Assistant Store Manager at Office Depot plays a pivotal role in driving total sales and service growth within our stores. The Assistant Manager will help lead a customer-centric environment, engage with the local community, all while fostering a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Caring, Committed, Creative, Collaborative, & Courageous. The Retail Assistant Store Manager will be a "Key Carrier" and considered a leader on duty. All Retail Assistant Store Manager's must be able to work a flexible schedule that aligns with business needs, inclusive of the ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. In addition, Full-Time Assistant Manager positions must be able to perform External Key Carrier responsibilities which include but are not limited to opening and closing responsibilities.We believe that the Assistant Store Manager role is essential in driving our store's success through inspiring sales brilliance and exceptional service. The ideal Assistant Manager should be passionate about sales, delivering exceptional service, driving operational excellence, and developing a high-performing team.The essential functions of this position may require you to consent to periodic comprehensive background checks conducted by a third-party.Primary Responsibilities:Sales and Service Excellence:Partner with the management team to drive memorable customer experiences and client satisfaction.Ensure the execution of Office Depot selling techniques and sales training across the store.Foster a sales-focused environment through assisting with the training and development of associates.Act as a role model for delivering exceptional customer service and product expertise.Operational Efficiency:Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards.Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies.Assist the General Manager in providing guidance and effective coaching to associates for improved performance.Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.Leadership and Team Development:Provide guidance, direction, and ongoing training to store associates, including Print Services associates.Facilitate training sessions on the business model and the holistic service offering for clients/customers.Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance associate proficiency and build a culture of trust and brand loyalty.Regularly exercises independent judgment when providing input to the General Manager on assessing store associates' performance, certification(s), and competencies.Other responsibilities as deemed necessaryExternal Key Carrier Responsibilities:Maintain the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of other managers.Perform opening and closing responsibilities, including activation and deactivation of the store's alarm system, cash handling, and daily store balancing.As a leader in the store, ensure regular loss prevention compliance.Fulfill responsibilities associated with External Key Carrier designationEducation & Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's preferred in Business, Marketing, Retail, or related field preferred1–3 years related experience; retail, sales, customer-facing, and/or supervisory experience preferredBasic computer skills; able to use job-related technology and systemsSkills & CompetenciesAdvanced selling skills and strong customer focusProven leadership: able to lead, coach, motivate, and manage conflictStrong problem-solving, time management, and ability to plan, prioritize, and executeExcellent verbal and written communication; effective collaborator and team playerDemonstrates business acumen, accountability, and drive for results; makes sound decisionsPositive, engaging, action-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about our brand, products, services, and solutionsAbout The OPD Group: The ODP Group, through its business entities ODP Business Solutions and Office Depot, is a leading provider of products, services, and technology solutions through an integrated business-to-business (B2B) distribution platform and omnichannel presence, which includes world-class supply chain and distribution operations, dedicated sales professionals, online presence, and a network of Office Depot and Office Max retail stores.Commitment to Safety: We are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for our Coworkers and our customers.
