Position: Registered Nurse - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Location: Seattle, WA

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to provide high-quality care for our smallest patients. This position requires a minimum of three years of NICU experience, with an emphasis on floating to the Childbirth Center Units when necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of NICU experience
• 1 year of travel experience required, 2 years preferred
• Ability to float to Childbirth Center Units
• Current certifications in BLS and NRP
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Skills Required

• NICU III and NICU IV competencies
• Care for neonates < 24-28 weeks gestation
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Feeding techniques (bottle, breast, gavage)
• Placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
• Isolation precautions and PPE usage
• Management of arterial and central lines
• Administration of IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
• Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Care for patients with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome

Unit Details

• Staffing Type: Block scheduling
• Patient Ratios: 3 patients per nurse during day and night shifts
• Patient population: Neonates and infants
• Daily census: Approximately 12 patients
• Number of beds: 18

Special Procedures and Equipment

• Central line placement
• Intubation and chest tube placement
• Exchange transfusions
• Special equipment: HFOV, Conventional Ventilator-Draeger VN 500, aEEG Brainz Monitor

Orientation and Training

New staff will undergo 24 hours of orientation, during which required modules will be completed and signed off by facility managers. Average module completion time is 8-12 hours, and time spent during the first 24 hours of orientation will be billed at 50% of the regular bill rate.
