Job Description The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center has a stellar history in lung disease, clinical care, and research. Excellence in respiratory and critical care, research, and teaching is the sine qua non for an outstanding Division. The Division is in the process of attracting clinicians and researchers of the highest quality to develop and promote translational clinical programs that bring personalized, cutting‑edge approaches to patients with respiratory disease and critical illness. These efforts will attract residents of Manhattan and the Tri‑State area to seek out specialized outpatient care from clinical leaders at Mount Sinai and to seek out Mount Sinai’s inpatient service for multidisciplinary management of pulmonary disease, pulmonary hypertension, and critical illness. As a Faculty member in the Division, you will provide the best quality of care for our patients and contribute to the Division’s research, clinical and training programs. In your clinical roles as a Pulmonary Hypertension specialist and Critical Care physician, you will provide outstanding, state‑of‑the‑art therapy. Your role will also include teaching students and trainees the concepts of pulmonary and critical care physiology and medicine, and where appropriate, mentoring these individuals. Responsibilities

CLINICAL

Provide state‑of‑the‑art, evidence‑based critical care at MSHS by investigating, diagnosing, and treating acutely ill patients, including performing treatments and procedures at the bedside. Have full‑time intensivist duties with 24/7 coverage across the Health System and an appointment as Professor in the Department of Medicine. As a .80 clinical FTE, be responsible for 10.4 shifts per month with a combination of day and night shifts, allocated according to clinical effort. Write detailed medical records for all critical care services, submit to Charge Capture timely, and adhere to MSHS Assurance and Compliance policies. Achieve an annual wRVU target based on billable critical care services and procedures; qualify for a productivity bonus if wRVUs exceed the target. Work extra shifts once minimum monthly requirements are met, completing attestation form and receiving payment within 60 days of service. Participate in clinical continuing education courses and workshops.

ADMINISTRATIVE

Section Chief of Medical Critical Care in the Division, responsible for academic and educational activities, faculty recruitment, evaluation, retention, and oversight of education programs for trainees. Director of ICCM Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), collaborating with leadership to expand capacity. Provide administrative leadership for the MICU, development of faculty, and coverage scheduling. Participate in committees and administrative functions supporting the MICU, Department, and Medical Center. Perform due diligence on equipment or technology planning. Support quality initiatives of Departments and Medical Center.

QUALITY

Obtain exceptional clinical outcomes by promoting safety and quality through evidence‑based medicine and multidisciplinary communication. Achieve metrics for patient care aligned with ICCM quality incentive, including hand hygiene, CLABSI and CAUTI targets, central line and Foley catheter utilization. Participate in unit/team‑specific quality improvement projects and diversity, equity, and inclusion projects; present at monthly ICCM PSQI meetings.

EDUCATION

Ongoing Medical Education: Maintain current certification and licensure. Teaching and Mentorship: Commitment to teaching and mentoring critical care fellows, as evidenced by: Attendance at fellow conferences. Teaching in fellowship training days (bootcamps, ultrasound courses, SIM courses). Give two lectures per academic year to the fellows. Scholarly Activity: Engagement in scholarly activities (at least two within every 3 years): Presentations, including extramural presentations. Publications (research abstract, paper, review article, systematic review, editorial, book chapter, case report, etc.). Grand rounds (1 every 2 years). Serve on professional committees, educational organizations, journal reviewer, editorial board member. Creation of curricula, evaluation tools, didactic educational activities, or electronic educational materials. Innovations in education. Participation in ACGME‑required faculty development programs: Registration and attendance at the annual Mount Sinai GME meeting. Completion of GME snippet. Contribute to ongoing fellowship program assessment and improvement: Completion of fellow rotation evaluations in a timely manner. Participation in biannual faculty meetings to discuss fellow performance. Participation in Program Evaluation Committee (PEC).

RESEARCH

You are expected to participate in research activities including clinical trials and drafting manuscripts for academic journals. Research initiatives should be clinical in nature and may include participation in specific ICU or team‑based projects. Qualifications Compensation range from $350,000 to $450,000 (not including bonuses or benefits). Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, and other factors.
