Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and licensed journeyman electrician to join our team for an exciting two-year project. The role involves performing installations, startups, troubleshooting, commissioning, and preventative maintenance for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with drawings and codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform installations, startups, troubleshooting, commissioning, and preventative maintenance for electrical systems per drawings and codes.
• Execute First Time Energization (FTE), switching, AutoLOTO, load-bank connections/removals, and Level 3–5 commissioning support.
• Read and interpret blueprints, one-line diagrams, schematics, and installation plans; lay out conduit, cable tray, and devices.
• Follow approved Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and company safety protocols; maintain accurate work records and service documentation.
• Support and mentor apprentices; coordinate with Superintendents, project management, and clients.
• Diagnose issues, respond to service calls, recommend improvements, and complete acceptance testing.
• Participate in post-project reviews and incorporate lessons learned.
• Install and terminate underground or overhead primary feeders.
• Set and wire pad-mounted transformers, switchgear, or utility metering equipment.
• Install grounding and bonding systems (ground rings, rods, grids).
• Perform cable pulling, splicing, and terminations for medium-voltage conductors.
• Install and connect service entrance equipment.
• Set and test switchgear/switchboards and medium-voltage switchgear, if applicable.
• Work with protective relays and metering.
• Route and secure large conduit banks and bus duct and test all connections to manufacturer specifications.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical work.
• Must have a journeyman license in Iowa or reciprocating states.
• Proficient in wiring, troubleshooting, and reading blueprints and schematics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Licensed Journeyman Electrician with 7+ years of commercial/industrial experience; successful apprenticeship required.
• Iowa state electrical licensing in good standing or reciprocal licensing from AK, AR, CO, MN, MT, NE, NH, ND, OK, SD, TX, WI, or WY.
• Familiarity with data center systems, transfer schemes, switchgear, controllers, and pneumatic/electrical process controls.
• Proficient in reading blueprints, one-line diagrams, risers, and electrical schematics.
• Skilled with conduit bending tools, cable tray layout, device trim, and load-bank operations.
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills; able to work independently as required.
• Willing to submit to a 10-panel drug screen.
• Willing to submit to a 7-year national background check.

Work Environment

The work environment is a hyperscale data center, a massive construction site with seven buildings, where safety is extremely important. You must follow all site rules and regulations. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday, 6 AM to 2:30 PM, totaling 68 hours per week. Per diem is available, covering 7 days.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
