Diesel Mechanic

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks and related equipment used in commercial CDL operations. This role ensures all fleet vehicles meet Department of Transportation (DOT) safety standards and are kept in reliable, road‑ready condition to support company operations. Key Responsibilities Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Perform routine maintenance on Class A and Class B CDL trucks (oil changes, filter replacements, brake adjustments, etc.) Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and manuals Repair or replace defective components including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and fuel systems Conduct preventive maintenance services to minimize breakdowns and downtime Inspections & Compliance Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations Complete pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections as needed Maintain accurate service, inspection, and repair records Ensure all trucks meet safety standards before returning to service Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Use computer diagnostic equipment and software to identify issues Troubleshoot engine performance, emissions systems, and electronic control modules (ECMs) Test vehicles after repair to ensure proper operation Shop & Equipment Management Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop and tools Properly use and care for diagnostic and repair equipment Order parts and maintain inventory as needed Safety & Team Collaboration Follow all workplace safety protocols and OSHA guidelines Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatch, and management regarding vehicle status Respond to road calls or emergency breakdowns when required Location: Nacogdoches, TX #J-18808-Ljbffr Express Employment Professionals
