Generator Technician

Company Overview Energy Systems is a leading distributor of Generac equipment and solutions, providing sales, service, and rentals across the United States. Job Responsibilities Perform technical tasks, including mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting, and repair of generators. Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of generators during normal hours and after‑hours, weekends, and holidays. Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on generators. Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs. Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and report them along with any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner. Stay current on National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems. Create reports for all work performed in FieldServio and communicate findings through phone calls, e‑mail, and in‑person communication. Conduct equipment commissioning for industrial and MPS products. Minimum Job Requirements Education: High School Diploma Certification / License: Valid Driver License Work Experience: 4 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS) Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams. Working knowledge of engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems. Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating products. Working knowledge of diesel or gaseous engines. Excellent troubleshooting skills, ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of transfer switch operations and spark‑ignited systems. Ability to obtain and maintain Generac certification in the air‑cooled and protector series courses. Excellent communication skills, ability to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe and timely manner. Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to observe, identify, and relay critical information. Preferred Job Requirements Education: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Work Experience: 6 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS) Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must stand regularly and use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls. Must walk, stoop, crouch, bend, and reach above the shoulders. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must comply with assigned location PPE requirements, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, clothing, shields for required tasks, and closed‑toed or safety shoes. Must work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, snow, and ice. The employee may be required to obtain a DOT Medical Card and have the ability to drive a heavy‑duty truck on a daily basis.
