Steel Weld- Working Lead The Steel Weld Working Lead is responsible for overall operations within the assigned area. You will adhere to and uphold plant policies and procedures, be accountable for safety, quality, and productivity in the Steel Weld department, and foster a well‑trained and motivated workforce. You will assume the duties of the Senior Lead in their absence, but you will not personally give associate disciplinary actions, reviews, merit increases, etc. Key Responsibilities Conduct associate training and cross‑training within the department. Interpret prints and verify first‑piece quality for all jobs run. Ensure parts/products are made per specifications; know finished goods model numbers and parts needed for assembly. Monitor and document hourly production rates on associates. Confirm paperwork is 100% complete, accurate, legible and returned to the appropriate area upon run completion. Set up, adjust, and operate all equipment safely and efficiently with little supervision. Identify and communicate problems to the Production Supervisor or Senior Lead. Be responsible for the accuracy of data capture for every task performed via MRP or special order. Report to Senior Lead if production schedules are not being met. Implement and maintain the 5S Program; keep the area neat and complete daily cleaning schedules. Complete preventive maintenance and all regularly scheduled maintenance of machine tooling, hand tools and machinery to maintain good working order. Notify Production Supervisor or Senior Lead if an associate is operating above or below their rated level. Communicate safety, quality and productivity expectations and follow up to inspect periodically. Work all jobs in the department as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Adhere to company regulations and embody NCC’s Values. Qualifications & Skills High School diploma or GED. Previous manufacturing experience preferred. Must be able to work before/after shift as needed. Must maintain attendance points of 7 or less to remain in the Department Lead role. Welding experience is a must. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Stoop, twist, bend, and work overhead. Exert up to fifty pounds of force frequently. Walk or stand for a minimum of eight hours with limited breaks. Demonstrate manual dexterity. Tolerate extremes in temperature. Extensive use of power/hand tools. Perform visual inspections. Benefits Weekly paychecks.
