Open Rank Pediatric Pulmonologist

Position Title Open Rank Pediatric Pulmonologist Position Summary The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the North Carolina Children’s Hospital seeks a full‑time Open Rank Pediatric Pulmonologist to advance our global research efforts in determining intrinsic and environmental factors that impact the health of the developing lungs in children worldwide. The candidate will apply investigative skills, tools, and technologies to improve diagnostics and treatment of pediatric respiratory diseases, especially in children from low‑ and middle‑income nations. Collaboration with the Marsico Lung Institute, the Gillings School of Global Public Health, and the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Disease, as well as with investigators outside UNC, will be strongly encouraged and supported. Responsibilities Advance our global research efforts in determining intrinsic and environmental factors that impact lung health in children worldwide. Apply investigative skills, tools, and technologies to improve diagnostics and treatment of pediatric respiratory diseases, especially in children from low‑ and middle‑income nations. Collaborate with the Marsico Lung Institute, the Gillings School of Global Public Health, and the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Disease, and encourage collaborations with investigators outside UNC. Secure internal or external funding by the employment start date. Mentor pediatric pulmonology and other clinical or research fellows. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements MD or MD/PhD trained and American Board of Pediatrics‑eligible or certified in Pediatric Pulmonology. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Direct experience in pediatric pulmonary research and a publication track record in international pulmonary health. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to analyze and integrate information from diverse disciplines.
