Class A CDL Truck Driver

Responsibilities

1. Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle (tractor-trailer) combination, usually long distances, in and out of state, to transport and off-load proprietary products to customers or to storage sites in a safe, timely, accurate, and courteous manner.
2. Report all accidents, possible injuries, safety issues, driving citations and customer complaints to include service interruptions immediately to their supervisor.
3. Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
4. Maintain awareness of all Federal, State and Local regulations and always stay in compliance with these regulations. Report suspected regulatory violations or offenses to his/her appropriate manager.
5. Perform pre & post trip inspections to identify any maintenance action that may be required and acts appropriately if action is needed.
6. Operate all equipment per company and/or manufacturer guidelines to maximize equipment life cycle and minimize maintenance costs.
7. Perform offload procedures on varying types of trucks and trailers using hoses, pumps, fittings, and valves.
8. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages to the vehicles.
9. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
10. Complete and submit reports as required by the DOT and/or company policy.
11. Utilize On Board Computer per instructions and makes every effort to ensure accuracy of data.
12. Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
13. Exercise care when using all safety accessories to include Remote Control Devices, On Board Computers and Audio/Visual Recording Devices, if so equipped.
14. Read bill of lading to determine assignment details.
15. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment services when required.
16. Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
17. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading position and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
18. Troubleshoot system and perform basic repairs.
19. Maintain professional appearance/good personal hygiene and wear full uniform.
20. Help in other areas of the plant when needed.
21. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet business needs.

Employment

1. Provide evidence of employment eligibility acceptable to state and federal standards.
2. Must be at least 21 years old.
3. Able to pass a background check and pre-employment exam, physical agility assessment, respiratory clearance physical, pulmonary function test, MVR and DOT drug screen.

Education and Experience

1. Requires a high school diploma/GED.
2. Required two (2) years or more of commercial driving experience (Class A) and two (2) or more years of tanker experience.

Certification

1. Have and maintain a valid commercial drivers license (Class A), in the state of residence, and a safe driving record meeting the companys vehicle policy and insurability standards
2. Must have tanker and HAZMAT endorsements, doubles are preferred.
