JOB SUMMARY 

The Facilities Supervisor oversees the daily maintenance and repair of the agency’s Resource Centers, including buildings, grounds, and equipment. This role ensures appropriate staffing levels for day and swing shifts and supervises custodial, maintenance, and warehouse staff, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training. The Facilities Supervisor ensures that all cleaning, maintenance, inventory control, and related facility operations are completed in alignment with agency procedures and through a Trauma-Informed Care lens. This role coordinates services completed by onsite staff and by contracted providers such as Advantage Services. The Supervisor also oversees warehouse operations, including inventory management and accountability for tools and equipment. In partnership with the Facilities Manager, the Supervisor helps develop policies and procedures for facility operations and maintenance. This position attends weekly meetings with the Facilities Manager and meets bi-weekly with custodial staff to support communication, consistency, and team development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Perform general maintenance, repairs, and minor construction across the Resource Center property. 

1. Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program with the Facilities Manager. 

1. Conduct routine inspections and complete maintenance of building systems and equipment. 

1. Manage inventory and purchasing of office, custodial, and maintenance supplies. 

1. Coordinate with vendors and partner agencies for equipment servicing and supply distribution. 

1. Manage waste disposal systems and pest control in coordination with vendors or partners.  

1. Prioritize and respond to incoming work orders in a timely and efficient manner. 

1. Maintain warehouse and shop operations, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety standards. 

1. Keep outdoor areas clean, including trash removal, sweeping, and power washing. 

1. Maintain landscaping, sprinkler systems, and other grounds upkeep year-round, as applicable. 

1. Ensure winter safety by completing snow removal and de-icing of sidewalks and parking lots, as applicable. 

1. Safely operate agency vehicles and equipment; serve as a backup driver when needed. 

1. Assist with donation procedures. 

1. Support the maintenance, custodial, and housekeeping teams as needed. This role requires flexibility and a willingness to take on tasks outside the routine daily operations. 

1. Attend mandatory agency trainings, including Trauma-Informed Care, Housing Focused, De-escalation, Suicide Prevention, CPR, and more. 

1. Participate in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as required. 

1. Follow all agency protocols for security, safety, and sanitation to maintain a clean and secure environment for guests and staff. 

1. Maintain regular and reliable attendance as an essential function of this position. 

Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities   

1. Model trauma-informed leadership in all interactions with staff and guests. 
2. Provide clear, constructive feedback to staff regularly, fostering growth and accountability. 
3. Hire, train, mentor, and support team members through hands-on guidance and resource sharing.  
4. Delegate tasks effectively while ensuring equitable distribution of workload. 
5. Resolve conflicts promptly and professionally, using de-escalation techniques and leading difficult conversations with kindness and directness.  
6. Uphold agency policies consistently and lead by example. 
7. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with employees to exchange feedback, actively listen, and address professional development needs. 
8. Develop and implement performance improvement plans and other corrective actions when needed, with measurable goals, equipping staff with the tools and guidance to achieve success. 
9. Collaborate cross-departmentally to align team goals with organizational mission. 
10. Monitor and ensure completion of all mandatory training, while maintaining accurate participation records. 
11. Track and report on team performance metrics (attendance, outcomes, etc.), as needed. 
12. Perform employee evaluations as scheduled, offering actionable feedback and tailored support. 
13. Advocate for staff needs while balancing operational priorities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

• High school diploma/GED required. 
• Experience working with diverse and/or vulnerable populations is preferred. 
• Three years of the following experience preferred: 
  • Minimum of three years’ supervisory or managerial experience.  
  • Basic understanding of commercial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. 
  • Commercial building equipment upkeep and repair. 
  • Material/equipment management and inventory control. 
  • Proficient in building maintenance trades. 
• Completion of vocational/technical school preferred. 
• ​​​​​​​Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

PHYSICAL AND EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift and move heavy items up to 50 pounds.  

• Ability to sit, stand, and move for at least an hour at a time or more.  

• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, twist, push, and pull to perform job functions. 

• Ability to safely climb stairs, ladders, and step stools. 

• Ability to operate equipment and machinery, as needed. 

• Wear OSHA-required protective gear for safety. 

• Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid, unexpired driver’s license, and the ability to drive a vehicle, as needed.
