Location: Richmond, VA
Salary: $100,000 - $150,000

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate has experience across HVAC, plumbing, piping, electrical and mechanical systems and is comfortable managing projects ranging from service-driven upgrades to complex design-build renovations and capital equipment installations. This individual will play a key role in ensuring systems perform reliably while supporting a strong reputation for technical expertise and long-term client partnerships.

Our client is a well-established mechanical services provider specializing in HVAC, plumbing, piping, and system installations. The company offers design-build solutions, maintenance programs, equipment retrofits, and large-scale installations for commercial and industrial clients where performance, efficiency, and uptime are critical.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial mechanical projects from preconstruction through completion
• Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and clients
• Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cost controls
• Oversee installation of HVAC systems, piping, plumbing, and mechanical equipment
• Review project drawings and specifications to ensure scope accuracy and constructability
• Adapt to evolving project conditions, schedules, and design changes
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, safety programs, and local codes
• Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
• Manage procurement of equipment including boilers, chillers, RTUs, pumps, and related systems
• Monitor project progress, installation quality, and system performance
• Lead project meetings and provide updates to internal teams and clients
• Support commissioning, startup, and system performance verification
• Maintain strong client relationships across commercial and industrial markets

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical project management
• Experience managing commercial mechanical construction projects
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and mechanical specifications
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong understanding of safety requirements and OSHA compliance

Preferred

• Experience with design-build project delivery
• Experience with retrofit, renovation, and capital equipment replacement projects
• Background supporting commercial facilities, healthcare, industrial, or institutional clients
