As a Customer Service Representative at the Macon-Bibb County Health Department, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals working to protect the health and well-being of communities across the state by supporting vital public health initiatives. Under general supervision, coordinate and perform a variety of mail, records, supply, and delivery functions to support the daily operations of the health department. This role also works and communicates with the general public, internal customers and/or external customers to provide information and services targeted to meet customer expectations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and routine deliveries to departments throughout the health department in a timely manner.
• Process official Release of Information (ROI) requests and maintain secure health records in accordance with confidentiality requirements, including HIPAA.
• Accurately issue negative test result notifications to clients or healthcare providers.
• Monitor inventory levels throughout the health department and review supply requisitions submitted by staff.
• Process orders for medical and office supplies and ensure requested items are available as needed.
• Deliver ordered supplies to the appropriate departments or designated storage areas.
• Conduct periodic inventory audits to track stock levels, minimize waste, and prevent supply shortages
• Perform additional duties as assigned. Responsibilities and essential functions may change to meet organizational needs.

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience communicating information in a customer service setting; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Customer Svc Rep 1 (GST120) or position equivalent.

A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

DPH accepts educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) as valid. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degrees, diplomas, licensures, and other relevant credentials.
