Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Critical Care Float for a travel nursing job in New Orleans, Louisiana.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Critical Care Float\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/28/2026\n Duration: 19 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 28, 2026\n Length: 19 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical ICU RN with prior transplant care experience and an active LA or compact RN license.Details\n \n Work in a high acuity Surgical ICU and Transplant ICU setting\n 1:2 patient ratio\n Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15 (4x12 schedules may be accommodated)\n Float requirement to other ICUs and step-down units\n No on-call requirement\n No block scheduling requests accommodated\n Epic charting system used\n Requirements\n \n Active RN license (LA or Compact) in hand at time of consideration\n Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA)\n Minimum 2 years of SICU/transplant ICU experience required\n Required transplant experience: liver, heart, lung, kidney, and/or pancreas\n Experience with post cardiac surgery care directly from the OR required\n Prior travel nursing experience required\n Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) preferred\n Experience with PA catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps preferred\n Epic EMR experience required\n Current NURSYS report required, updated within 4 weeks of consideration\n Additional Information\n \n Provide critical care nursing to high acuity surgical and transplant ICU patients\n Manage complex post-operative recovery including CABG, valve replacement/repair, aortic dissection, IABP, and PA Cath monitoring\n Care for transplant recovery patients including liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas transplants\n May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, which could require staying onsite until the event concludes\n Orientation is held five days per week\n Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required prior to starting contract, though not required for initial consideration\n Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted\n Requested RTO must be finalized and included on the candidate profile prior to interview\n Previous Ochsner Health System employees or in-house agency contractors must have a full year of separation before returning as a travel clinician\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-749453.
