Clinical Supervisor (Part-Time)

Provides clinical supervision, case consultation, and training to the Partnerships for Families (PFF) programs and may also supervise additional Family Services Department staff and interns as needed or to provide coverage. Assists program supervisors with program start‑up activities and supports staff and interns with all aspects of service delivery, including crisis‑related matters, in accordance with contract requirements. Works closely with Department Supervisor to ensure contract compliance, quality assurance, and adherence to evidence-based critical elements of the DCFS Core Practice Model and Protective Factors Framework.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee clinical cases for assigned staff and interns within the Family Services Department. Provide ongoing individual and group supervision, including case consultation, and serve as Field Instructor, Intern Coordinator, and/or Preceptor as needed. Deliver clinical, programmatic, and didactic training for staff and interns. May provide coverage for direct services as needed. Maintain current knowledge of research, clinical approaches, and trends impacting families. Ensure high‑quality clinical services and adherence to program(s), FSD Department, and agency policies. Provide assessments and direct client services as needed, including back‑up coverage. Provide crisis intervention and ensure availability for urgent matters in accordance with contract requirements. Ensure client records and clinical documentation are completed, reviewed, and maintained in accordance with agency and contract requirements; oversee documentation processes and support preparation for audits and site visits. Assist in developing and implementing program policies and procedures to support contract compliance, staff and client safety, and adherence to legal and ethical standards. Assist with coordination of Quality Assurance and Peer Review meetings. Participate in supervisor, staff, agency‑wide meetings, and in‑service trainings. Contribute to client service planning and participate in service planning meetings. Coordinate assessment data and maintain collaborative relationships with community stakeholders, including DCFS, DMH, court systems, schools, and other partners. Review and sign off on clinical reports and documentation. Monitor clinical progress of staff, assign or approve cases, and provide feedback for performance evaluations. Maintain compliance with California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) standards, including verifying required hours and documentation for clinical staff. Participate in outreach efforts when applicable. Support team with gathering and organizing materials and information for proposal submissions. Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong knowledge of clinical practices, evidence-based practices, legal and ethical standards, and core social work principles. Knowledge of community resources and relevant County departments, including DCFS, DPSS, DMH, and DPH. Knowledge of community engagement strategies that reduce racial disproportionality and disparities. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse and underserved communities. Expertise in providing clinical supervision across social work, marriage and family therapy, and related fields. Knowledge of the Strengthening Families Protective Factors and the DCFS Core Practice Model (highly desired). Knowledge of child development, bonding strategies, and positive parenting practices. Knowledge of child abuse risk factors such as domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues, and other contributing factors. Strong ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co‑workers, supervisors, and the public; effectively collaborate as part of a team. Strong ability to maintain professional boundaries. High level of judgment, discretion, and decision‑making ability. Proficient computer skills and ability to interface effectively with agency staff involved in programmatic contract compliance. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and remain available after hours as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Master’s in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field. Experience: Minimum of five years of experience providing direct services to families and children in non‑profit settings serving low‑income, ethnically diverse, underserved, and unserved populations. Experience providing counseling services for children and their families affected by child abuse. Preferred: Two to five years of experience working with survivors of domestic violence, substance use, mental health issues, or other trauma‑related concerns. Minimum of two years of experience working with families requiring intensive case management. Minimum of two years of post‑licensure experience. Experience providing clinical supervision to interns and/or clinicians registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Licensed in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) / Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or related field by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences; active status and in good standing. Occasional driving is required. Must provide your own vehicle, valid California Driver’s License, and proof of full insurance coverage. Negative tuberculosis screen (required). We require the selected candidate to undergo a criminal background check using the Live Scan fingerprinting method in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

In accordance with California law, the expected pay range for this position is posted with this position.
