About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Valid State License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Experience with patient ratios of 2-3 - Charting system experience required Description: Start date: ASAP Shift: 3X12 Days First-timers accepted with at least 2 years of experience. Weekends required. Floating to other units may be required. Unit details: Medically complex, critically ill patients. Patients may require noninvasive or mechanical ventilation, post CVL, and cardiac arrest with TTM. Other conditions include multisystem organ failure, various shock states, CVA post TPa, COVID, ARDS, DKA, ETOH withdrawal. One CNA per shift will assist. The unit is high acuity and fast-paced. Frequently occurring procedures include bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, para and thoracentesis, and code blue. The standard patient ratio is 2:1; however, it may increase to 4:1 if there are boarders. Floating may occur to tele units if census requires it, although this is rare. The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with 571 total staffed beds. Scrub color is any, except for reddish orange. Charting is done using an electronic system. Additional Unit Information: Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census is around 25. The unit is supported by IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. Providers are responsible for submitting their monthly cell phone bills if required communication devices are not supplied. No direct calls to facility contacts are permitted unless for an agreed-upon interview. Time spent on modules for orientation is considered non-billable. Modules must be completed pre-start and during orientation. Completion of modules is recorded in transcripts.
