Project Surveyor

Job TitleUnder general supervision, translates, prepares, and finalizes raw data into project deliverables and contract documents in accordance with company standards, municipal/jurisdictional requirements, survey standards, and client requirements. Demonstrates a high level of proficiency using computer assisted engineering and design software to translate data into functional designs for projects varying in size and complexity. Ensures projects adhere to technical specifications and standards through Quality Control/Quality Assurance practices.Essential FunctionsWork under minimum supervision to prepare finished drawings from very complex sketches, notes, and verbal instruction.Collect, review, prepare, and maintain project records and documentationAnalyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete the drawingsUtilize computer-assisted design software and equipment for a variety of projects ranging in size, scope, and complexity in accordance with company standards and project specificationsConduct research of recorded documents and deedsIndependently analyze work product to ensure compliance and Quality Control/Quality AssuranceMonitor budget hours and schedule for assigned projects/tasks and bring any issues or concerns to the attention of the project managerAssist in preparing calculations and drafting estimates for proposed projectsDevelop and maintain trusted relationships with multidisciplinary team membersAssist in training and resolving tasks or drawing project production issues for less experienced techniciansPerform other duties as requiredEducation/ExperienceHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredCollege credits in surveying technology or related field a plus4+ years of applicable experience (applicable education or certification will be considered)Surveyor-In-Training (SIT) certification preferredMay require a valid driver's license for periodic field work or site visitsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrates ability to successfully engage with professionals and clients in a multi-disciplinary environment, communicates with team members; builds relationships and trustProficient with topographic and boundary surveys, and ALTA/NSPS Land Title SurveysStrong knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D requiredFamiliarity with Microstation, Bentley OpenRoads, and Trimble Business Center preferredFoundational point cloud experience (TBC, Pix4D, Mach 9, etc.) preferredProficient in general documentation software such as Microsoft Suite, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, etc.Working knowledge of land surveying principles and instrumentsExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsDemonstrates ability to effectively execute assignments of increased size and complexityEffectively and proactively conveys information through verbal and written communicationRequires minimal supervision to complete assigned workEffectively maintains office and field health & safety requirements and protocolsMaintains a work schedule conducive to team collaboration and project-specific requirementsPhysical RequirementsInvolves sitting a considerable amount of the timeMay exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to move objectsOccasionally lifts and carries up to 25 poundsConsiderable time is spent at a workstation using a computer and using various forms of communication (telephone, email, messaging, etc.)Any field work assignments will require exposure to outside weather conditions and various environmental conditions depending on the sitePhysical activities include walking and occasional stooping and crouchingThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties and/or responsibilities required of the employee for this position.
