Responsibilities Cytotechnologists are responsible for screening and reporting negative gynecological and non‑gynecological cytology cases, identifying and referring abnormal cases to pathologists, performing quality control activities, and assisting in the training and evaluation of cytotechnology students. They may participate in additional lab activities including digital image analysis, FISH techniques, and tissue review. As a member of the Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) Team, they provide on‑site adequacy evaluation of FNA procedures, offer technical advice and coverage to the preparation and processing area during short staffing, and assist cytology specialists and management with data gathering for quality assurance, continuous improvement, and special projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or a bachelor’s degree with completion of an accredited Cytotechnology program. A skills assessment test will be administered at interview; a PASS score is required. Experience using databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software is required. Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adapt to changes in work volume and projects are essential. Cytologist (CT, ASCP) or Specialist in Cytology (SCT, ASCP) certification is required prior to the start date. Employees obtaining CT certification after January1,2004 or SCT certification after January1,2006 must demonstrate evidence of ongoing maintenance of certification. Exemption Status: Non‑exempt Compensation $35.45–$53.15 per hour Schedule Full time. Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with varied start times. Rotating Sunday coverage 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Total hours per pay period: 80.
