Staff Data Engineer

The Staff Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, infrastructure, and data visualization to support our data-driven decision-making processes. Key Responsibilities Lead, develop, and maintain the data architecture, data models, and standards for various data integration and data warehousing in enterprise data warehouse. Research, develop, and maintain data solutions to enable new or existing solutions and BI development for the enterprise driven data warehouse and data visualization solutions. Maintain current data infrastructure for performance, scalability, and reliability across all data workflows. Influence code reviews through WellSky solution subject matter expertise. Develop and train teammates for data security, architecture, and governance requirements while maintaining data quality standards through automation. Adhere to WellSky core values, ensure PHI data security, and adapt to changing BI technologies. Perform other job duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience At least 8-12 years of relevant work experience Preferred Qualifications Hands‑on experience managing replication tools (HVR/Fivetran, DataStream, or similar CDC tools) to replicate data from source systems into BigQuery in real‑time or near‑real‑time Experience with event‑based data capture and streaming using Apache Kafka, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, or similar messaging platforms Strong experience with star schema design, dimensional modeling, and modern data platform patterns for analytics‑ready solutions Experience with Dataflow, Airflow, dbt, Dataform, or equivalent tools for high‑volume pipeline orchestration Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Terraform for automated, scalable data engineering Working knowledge of AI‑based development tools and workflows (e.g., AI‑assisted coding, LLM integration, prompt engineering for data workflows) Working knowledge of reporting and dashboarding tools (Tableau, Looker, Sisense) with experience embedding analytics into multi‑tenant client application systems Healthcare industry experience Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services Experience with multi‑tenant SaaS application architectures Job Expectations Willing to work as a part on an on‑call rotation Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed Must work in accordance with applicable security policies and procedures to safeguard company and client information Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time WellSky provides equal employment opportunities to all people without regard to race, color, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, religion, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, protected medical condition, genetic information, military service, veteran status or any other status or characteristic protected by law.
