Hours: Full time, Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM.

Occasional Thursday Night Clinic (6:00PM)

Occasional Saturday Clinic, (8:00AM – 1:00PM)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs treatments and diagnostic procedures requested by health care providers. The LVN prepares patients and equipment as indicated for exams. Assists health care providers as needed with exams and minor surgical procedures.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Collects, labels, prepares, stores, and transports specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.
2. Performs point-of-care (POC) testing, including but not limited to hematocrits, blood glucose, urine pregnancy tests, dipstick urinalysis, and other in-house laboratory analyses, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
3. Conducts diagnostic procedures as ordered by healthcare providers, including audiometric screenings, visual acuity assessments, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and other clinical tests.
4. Prepares patients, treatment rooms, and equipment for examinations and procedures, ensuring readiness and adherence to infection control standards.
5. Assists healthcare providers during examinations and minor surgical procedures, maintaining sterile technique and supporting efficient workflow.
6. Administers medications and immunizations, including vaccines through AccuVax systems, in accordance with physician orders, clinical protocols, and applicable regulations.

1. Maintains and monitors AccuVax inventory, including vaccine storage, temperature compliance, documentation, and reconciliation to ensure regulatory and safety standards are met.
2. Initiates and reinforces patient education within the scope of practice, including instructions related to medications, treatments, preventive care, and follow-up.
3. Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patients’ emotional and psychological responses to illness, providing supportive and compassionate care.
4. Identifies and addresses patient needs related to self-care and promotes patient safety and well-being.
5. Performs triage of walk-in patients, appropriately assessing urgency and facilitating timely care.
6. Responds to telephone inquiries within scope of practice and directs calls to appropriate personnel as needed.
7. Maintains cleanliness, organization, and readiness of examination rooms, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
8. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains medical instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
9. Monitors clinical supply levels and is responsible for inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining necessary medical and office supplies.
10. Ensures proper upkeep and functionality of equipment and promptly reports malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.
11. Adheres to organizational policies, compliance requirements, and clinical best practices at all times.
12. Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to work varied schedules based on organizational and patient care needs.
13. Performs additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care.
14. Complies with all SIHC policies & procedures.
15. Ability to work flexible schedule may be required based on need.
16. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education/Experience : Must be 18 years of age or older with a High School diploma or GED certificate. Prefer two years clinical experience. Ability to obtain a medical history, both general history and complaint specific history is required. Command of correct English grammar is required. Knowledge of Spanish language is preferred. Must be proficient in keyboard, Word program, Windows, and other programs as needed. Ability to work as a team member in an EMR environment is required. Experience in a primary care setting which clearly demonstrates possession of the knowledge and skills stated above.

Licenses/Certifications : Applicant must have a current California LVN license at the time of application. BLS certification required. Certification of completion of courses in blood withdrawal required. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, take initiative, be proactive, and function in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to work with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds and to resolve conflicts, negotiates situations, and facilitate consensus.

Physical and Personal Requirements : Normal clinic/office environment. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Reach, bend, climb, stoop, lift up to 25 lbs. repetitive hand movement; use and view PC. Reliable transportation and car insurance as required by the state. Travel as needed.

Compliance : Each employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture at SIHC. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all SIHC policies and procedures. One must have the ability to understand the implications and complexities of all compliance policies. Participation in all compliance training is mandatory, and generally has a heightened awareness of policies and regulations that are specific to one’s department and position. All SIHC employees are expected to report violations or suspected violations of compliance policies or regulations.

Other : Applicants must successfully pass a pre-screening tuberculin skin test or x-ray and a blood/urine drug screening test. Health must be adequate to perform all duties of the position. Applicant must complete SIHC Application and Authorization Form, both must be submitted to Human Resources prior to the close date indicated.
