Adjunct Instructor of First Year Experience - Psychology

Compensation and Benefits Compensation: $778 per credit hour (or hourly rate as applicable). Maximum teaching load: 9 credit hours per semester (subject to approval). Tuition waiver: eligible for one (1) credit class or up to four (4) credit hours per semester; waiver may be transferred to a qualified family member. Adjunct faculty are not eligible for medical benefits; state and federal taxes, FICA, and social security are withheld. Position Summary Adjunct faculty serve as temporary, part‑time instructors on a semester‑by‑semester basis. The primary duty is effective teaching of college‑level courses and/or labs in the qualified discipline. Duties also include developing and revising instructional materials; presenting material in an organized manner; evaluating student learning; maintaining student records; teaching day, evening, weekend, and online classes as assigned; maintaining a minimum of one office hour per week per assigned course; and participating in Adjunct Professional Development activities. Responsibilities Teach assigned courses and labs following the university’s curriculum standards. Prepare and update course materials and assessments. Deliver instruction in a variety of formats (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online). Maintain accurate and timely student records. Provide at least one office hour per week for each course. Engage in professional development and promote school values: Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. Qualifications Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, human services, business, or a closely related field (minimum 18 graduate credit hours). Preference for candidates with prior teaching experience. Experience with traditional face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online courses. Proficiency in using San Juan College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) and other technology platforms. Access to reliable home internet, a personal computer, and a telephone. Demonstrated willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms for student communication.
