Registered Nurse Surgery Lead Froedtert South, Inc. Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, United States About this Position This role coordinates and administers medical and nursing care to patients within the surgical specialty, utilizing the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The nurse will also serve as the surgical specialty lead, facilitating communication among surgeons, vendor representatives, managers, coordinators, and staff, and providing staff support and training. Position Purpose Coordinates and administers medical and nursing care to patients using the nursing process, ensuring compliance with established standards and practices. Handles surgical specialty lead duties, including communication of service line needs and maintenance of supply inventory for the assigned specialty. Minimum Education Required Associate Degree: Nursing Minimum Experience Required Two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in the Surgery Department. Licenses / Certifications Required Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse in the State of Wisconsin and/or the State of Illinois, based on job location assignment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, hearing, and comprehending the English language. Physical, technical, and cognitive ability, including manual dexterity, to use patient care equipment. Principal Accountabilities and Essential Duties Demonstrate competency with specific clinical skills and techniques listed in the department/unit skills list. Operate within the Wisconsin Nurse Practices Act and hospital/nursing policies. Coordinate and administer medical and nursing care using the nursing process framework. Exhibit communication and leadership skills by collaborating with and directing healthcare team members to achieve positive patient outcomes. Use correct and safe techniques with patient equipment according to product information and policy/procedure manuals. Maintain and organize patient rooms and department work areas neatly, cleanly, and well-supplied. Organize and complete nursing care activities and charting within assigned shifts in a professional manner. Respond promptly and courteously to pages and help requests. Recognize life‑threatening situations and emergencies, taking appropriate actions in a timely manner. Participate actively in monitoring unit‑based Performance Improvement standards of care. Update Surgical Preference Cards. Communicate service line needs with surgeons, vendor reps, managers, coordinators, and staff. Provide staff support and training.
