Extension Agent, 4-H (Assistant, Associate or Full Agent)

Position Summary Extension Agent, 4‑H (Assistant, Associate, or Full Agent) – NC Cooperative Extension, Dare County. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and evaluate a community‑based 4‑H program that teaches life skills through projects, special interests, after‑school and community clubs, and in‑school programs. Plan, promote, and attend 4‑H residential and 4‑H summer day camps and events throughout the county. Provide opportunities for youth to participate in events and programs at district, state, and national levels. Recruit, develop, and train youth and adult volunteers representative of the county population, ensuring compliance with Client Protection guidelines. Lead a county‑wide 4‑H advisory council that identifies programmatic needs, supports efforts, and champions 4‑H within the community. Raise funds to support youth participation in local, district, state, and national events and to fund volunteer development and management. Develop a marketing and recruiting program that attracts youth and volunteers from all sectors of the county to achieve desired programmatic impact. Maintain accurate program records and ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations, including NC State University Programming with Minors regulations, financial management, USDA‑NIFA, and IRS requirements. Supervise the overall 4‑H program, establish and maintain 4‑H clubs within Dare County, and manage programs funded through grants and fees. Travel for trainings and programs, and be prepared to work overnight and/or on weekends. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in child or youth development, family and consumer sciences, or a related discipline; or a Master’s degree in a related field. Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale (or 3.0 for child or youth development), waived for NCCE Program Associates with a Bachelor’s degree. At least one‑half of a Master’s curriculum completed with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (or completion of a Master’s degree). Personal automobile and valid driver’s license. Computer literacy; strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to plan, implement, market, and evaluate educational programs. Strong work ethic, self‑directed, and ability to handle multiple demands and set priorities. Experience in volunteer recruitment, grant writing, and program development preferred. Valid NC driver’s license required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained thereafter.
