Medical Instrument Technician (Echosonography) / Echo Tech
Join a specialized cardiovascular care team supporting the Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS). We're seeking experienced Medical Instrument Technicians Echosonography / Echo Techs to provide diagnostic cardiac imaging services supporting Veterans at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. Multiple positions are available, and recruiting is underway.
A leading healthcare staffing organization is seeking qualified Medical Instrument Technicians (Echosonography) / ECHO Technologists to support cardiovascular services at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The selected technologists will work onsite and support patient care through echocardiographic imaging, equipment operation, image-quality review, clinical documentation, and collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
The Medical Instrument Technician (Echosonography) will perform echocardiographic imaging procedures, prepare and position patients, operate and adjust imaging equipment, produce high-quality diagnostic images, maintain appropriate patient records, and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare and position patients for echocardiography procedures.
- Explain procedures while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
- Select appropriate imaging techniques and adjust imaging equipment as needed.
- Operate echocardiography equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Review and verify image quality and communicate with providers when further evaluation is needed.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records.
- Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding imaging results and patient care.
- Complete required quality management and performance-improvement documentation.
- Follow established patient safety and infection-control standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with VA medical-record and healthcare documentation requirements.
Schedule:
- Onsite: MondayFriday
- Regular Shift: 8:00 a.m.4:30 p.m.
- 30-minute unpaid break
Minimum requirements include:
- Current certification in Echocardiographic Imaging through ARDMS or CCI is required.
- Candidates must be registered as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI or meet the applicable Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credentialing requirement.
- Minimum one (1) year of Echosonography experience required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- ACLS is preferred but not required.
- All applicable licenses, registrations, and certifications must remain current.
- Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
- Ability to meet VA credentialing, privileging, training, and patient-care requirements.
- Competency or certification in vascular imaging is desirable but not required.
