About the Position

Job Title: Scrub Technician Profession: Technician Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Must be certified Certifications: NBSTSA-Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), BLS Must-Have: CVOR experience Description: Provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and institutional standards. Assist in the coordination of patient care and assist the registered nurse in planning patient care. Collaborate with other health team members and participate in performance improvement activities. Act in a support role during the surgical procedure, but not as a surgical assistant. Create and maintain asepsis and perform scrubbing duties. Communicate patient information to the appropriate persons. Account for all equipment and supplies used in patient care. Communicate effectively with peers, other health team members, patients, and visitors. Maintain adaptability and support teamwork within the department and units. Resolve problems and consistently meet the department's customer service quality standards. Perform as a clinical preceptor for scrubbing and follow the orientation outline while collaborating with relevant personnel. Maintain cleanliness in the unit and clean equipment. Be responsible for the use and care of equipment utilized during surgical cases. Perform other job duties and responsibilities as required. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures is essential to provide patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment is critical. Skills in preparing and maintaining effective working relationships are necessary. Ability to communicate clearly is essential. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment is required. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting/moving patients are part of the role. Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying up to 50 lbs is expected. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity and reaching with hands/arms is necessary. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue will occur. There may be a risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens and moderate to high noise levels in the work area. Working under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours may be required. Call and/or weekend/holiday work may be necessary based on departmental needs.
