Job Title

Registered Nurse – CVICU (ECMO)

Location

San Diego, CA

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 3x12-hour rotating shifts (days and nights) | Must be flexible to work days, nights, and weekends as scheduled

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the extracorporeal (ECMO) circuit and adjust support as indicated to ensure adequate organ and tissue perfusion and oxygenation
• Troubleshoot and replace malfunctioning components of the extracorporeal circuit, including response to emergent and life-threatening situations
• Administer fluids and blood products via the extracorporeal circuit under physician direction
• Monitor and maintain adequate anticoagulation per ordered guidelines
• Assist with progressive mobility for ECMO patients
• Float between CTICU, PICU, and NICU as needed to follow ECMO patients within scope of practice

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license (or confirmed ETA for licensure posting required at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• BLS certification (required)
• PALS certification (required)
• Willingness to float between CTICU, PICU, and NICU based on ECMO patient census
• Full flexibility to be scheduled for days, nights, and weekends; maximum of 6 days RTO for the contract

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 2 years of pediatric ICU nursing experience, ideally in a children's hospital or pediatric care setting
• 1 year of ECMO experience; candidates with strong adult ECMO training and background will also be considered
• Experience charting in Epic
