Electrician

The primary role of an electrician is to disassemble, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair electricalwiring, fixtures, control devices, and other equipment to required specifications meeting or exceeding Redpathand government regulations/standards in surface and underground operations. Responsibilities 1. Capable of troubleshooting, diagnostics testing and interpretation, maintenance and repair ofventilation fans, underground dewater pumps, lighting, electric/hydraulic mobile equipment, PLC andcommunication equipment, electronics, high voltage and low voltage power and control systems andground fault monitor systems. 2. Assist and carry out repairs and maintenance to all underground sub-stations. 3. Must be capable of hanging 4/0 cable overhead. 4. Fabricate electrical panels and other necessary installation of electrical cables. 5. Install electrical apparatus. 6. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safeand efficient manner. 7. Ensure planned maintenance is carried out as per the maintenance schedule. 8. Ensure that all the spares & tools are available and serviceable. 9. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shiftrotations. 10. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility. 11. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 12. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assignedand are not necessarily all inclusive Qualifications Education: 1. Preferred University, college and/or trade school Work Experience:

1. Preferred minimum 3 years’ electrician experience in an underground mining environment.
2. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirementsto be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver’s License andacceptable driving record.
3. Proficient in the use of computers and associated software.

Knowledge Required:

1. Must be capable of reading & understanding electrical drawings and schematics.
2. Must have a good knowledge and understanding of the applicable electrical code and regulations.
3. Must be capable of reading and interpreting basic electrical instruments and testers.
4. Perform safe and timely emergency repairs to equipment.
5. Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written.
6. NFPA70E certification required (Based on site location)

Other Requirements:

1. Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical.
2. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
3. Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Health and Safety:

1. Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
2. Abide by Company Health and Safety standards and report any unsafe acts or conditions to a supervisor and/or a member of the management team.
3. Responsible for the use of all safety equipment, i.e., lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation.
4. Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hardhat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
5. Must have knowledge of OSHA and MSHA legislation and know how to effectively use Safety Data Sheets (SDS). MSHA Certification required site.
6. Follow Client on-site Health and Safety requirements.
7. Completes Risk Assessments are completed for each and every new and out of the ordinary task.
