About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Operating Room – Maryland

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM), every other weekend required, 1 on-call shift per week, plus 2 eight-hour weekend shifts within each 6-week schedule period

Highlights

• High-volume General Operating Room with approximately 40 cases per day serving pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
• 1:1 patient ratio with comprehensive surgical specialty exposure including Trauma, ENT, Colorectal, Plastics, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Laparoscopic, Urology, Ophthalmology, GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Robotics, Vascular, and Thoracic procedures
• Level II Trauma Center environment with advanced technology, minimally invasive techniques, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Electronic medical record system: Cerner/Surginet
• Teaching hospital setting supporting surgical education and evidence-based care
• Scrubs provided; float within scope as needed across the system

Requirements

• Active Maryland or Compact state RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required
• Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• 16-hour Maryland-approved trauma course required
• 8 hours of annual trauma continuing education units required
• ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and PALS certifications preferred
• Proficiency in Trauma, ENT, Colorectal, Plastics, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Oral/Dental, Laparoscopic Procedures, Urology, Ophthalmology, GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Robotics, Vascular, and Thoracic procedures
• Experience with emergency OR response, fire safety, malignant hyperthermia protocols, and latex allergy precautions
• Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber-optic equipment, and Steris equipment required
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)

Additional Information

Time off requests of 14 days or less are auto-approved; however, holiday coverage is required on every other winter and summer holiday, with no time off available during high-demand periods. Block scheduling is not available. Local candidates are welcomed. This position is open to first-time travelers. Non-billable orientation modules (approximately 8 hours) are completed virtually on the first day.
