Summer Cafeteria Helper Substitutes - Daily & On Call

Hours: Up to 6 hours per day

Dates: July 6, 2026 - July 31, 2026 (Monday - Friday all weeks.)

Compensation: Internal Cafeteria Worker Candidates: Hourly Rate as per the contract. External Candidates: $17.50 per hour

Locations: Goodnow, Whitcomb and MHS

Statement Of Duties

• Performs tasks requiring an ordinary degree of skill in preparation of meals for delivery in the community and serving of food if necessary for limited in-school programs if offered as well as other tasks required for the operation and sanitary maintenance of a food service facility or area. All state mandatory safety measures must be followed consistently.
• Prepares vegetables and other foods for cooking as necessary
• Makes soups and other simple hot foods, sandwich fillings, salad dressing, and simple desserts as necessary.
• Prepares sandwiches and salads.
• Prepares lunch and snacks for delivery and/or service as necessary
• Lift kitchen materials and supplies
• Operates electrical equipment such as mixers, potato peelers, slicing machines, dishwashers, and toasters.
• Cleans tables and other kitchen equipment.
• Collects and washes dishes, silver and cooling utensils, and puts them away.
• Sweeps floor, cleans counters and tables, and counter and kitchen equipment, such as food containers, trays, cooking ranges, garbage cans, and refrigerators.
• Receives and checks deliveries of food and other supplies.
• Stores food properly in refrigerators and storeroom.
• Keeps stores in good order.
• Assists in the taking of inventories of supplies, cashiering, and keeps simple records.
• Works as a member of a cafeteria staff team
• Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Principal, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Marlborough School Committee.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Valid Driver's License and mode of transportation to drive between school buildings required
• Experience in food service industry preferred
• Must be a positive contributor as a team player
• Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
