The Senior Business Data Analyst plays an important role in supporting data-informed decision-making within GDAIO. This position will help shape complex data analysis projects, develop analytical approaches, and provide meaningful insights to support business decisions. The role combines analytical expertise with collaborative project delivery, supporting high standards of data quality, accuracy, and integrity across the organisation. The Senior Business Data Analyst plays an important role in supporting data-informed decision-making within GDAIO. This position will help shape complex data analysis projects, develop analytical approaches, and provide meaningful insights to support business decisions. The role combines analytical expertise with collaborative project delivery, supporting high standards of data quality, accuracy, and integrity across the organisation. The Senior Business Data Analyst will support value-chain mapping of data, interpret system performance metrics, agile team performance data, and financial data, and help check and challenge GDAIO involvement in key initiatives based on return on investment. This role is important in developing and refining processes that turn complex datasets into actionable business intelligence and support better outcomes in the financial services market. Working closely with Data Engineering teams, Business SMEs, Business Sponsors and Senior Leadership, the Senior Business Data Analyst will analyse complex data ecosystems, translate findings into practical recommendations with the Head of Data Strategy and the Head of Data Architecture, and support project teams to align with organisational objectives. This role combines hands-on analysis with collaborative leadership, particularly during complex analysis or key project definition phases. More About The Role Shape and deliver complex data methodologies and analysis projects, developing analytical approaches that support business priorities Support the optimisation and phasing of data sourcing to the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) Evaluate important business processes and identify data-driven improvement opportunities Develop thoughtful analytical solutions to help address complex business challenges Provide clear insights to cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders based on advanced data analysis Help ensure analytical outputs align with business strategies and regulatory requirements Support data quality assessments, migrations and improvement initiatives Coordinate the delivery of high-impact analytical projects, helping ensure timely completion and effective use of resources Role model Royal London values across the GDAIO and broader organisation Support and coach junior Business Data Analysts, helping them build confidence and access development opportunities such as roundtables and conferences Encourage the use of data-driven decision-making practices across the organisation Contribute to initiatives that improve data literacy and analytical capability across business areas What You Will Bring To The Role Experience in data analysis and modelling, ideally within financial services or another regulated environment Experience delivering analytical projects with multiple stakeholders or interdependencies, especially migrations Knowledge of Agile ways of working and how they can support analytical delivery Good understanding of data lifecycle management and governance Practical experience with data visualisation tools, SQL, cloud-based data platforms, or statistical software Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex data insights into clear business recommendations Good organisational skills, including the ability to balance priorities and support effective delivery Collaborative stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across different teams and levels of the organisation We know that everyone’s experience looks different.
