About the Position

Job Title: Labor and Delivery RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 12 months Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred License: Must have an in-state license prior to the start date Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, FHM Must-Have: Charge experience is preferred. Candidates must have experience with the administration of blood products, neonatal resuscitation, and high-risk deliveries. Candidates must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Candidates must float as needed, including to other units. Description: The position requires a Labor and Delivery RN with charge experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. First-time travelers are accepted. The RN will work under AWHONN staffing guidelines for patient ratios. Active labor typically follows a 1:1 nursing ratio. The nursing ratio is 1:2 for patients not in active labor. There may be times when additional patients must be managed during busy periods. The candidate will assist with labor induction and both scheduled and unscheduled C-sections. Experience with conditions such as preeclampsia, hypertension, and preterm labor is essential. The RN will provide support for antepartum patients and conduct triage assessments. Familiarity with various equipment including epidural pumps, Alaris IV pumps, and fetal monitoring is necessary. Collaboration with interdisciplinary support services such as pharmacy and social services is expected. The position involves caring for a range of patient diagnoses related to labor and delivery. Successful candidates will demonstrate skills in areas like pain management, breastfeeding support, and discharge teaching.
