Senior Research Associate, Computational Biology

A Colossal Biosciences affiliate seeks a Senior Research Associate in computational biology to perform bioinformatics analyses and integrate multi-omics datasets for de-extinction research. The role combines genomic data analysis, tool development, and cross-functional collaboration in a Dallas-based startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comparative, functional, and statistical genomics analyses on biological datasets
• Develop custom bioinformatics tools and scripts in R and Python for data analysis and visualization
• Integrate genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets to address genotype-to-phenotype questions
• Maintain electronic laboratory records and prepare reports or presentations for wet-bench scientists and leadership

Requirements

• Two years of bioinformatics experience in functional genomics, comparative genomics, molecular evolution, or genomics statistics
• Demonstrated proficiency with Python, R, Perl, Ruby, Java, or BASH scripting for at least two years
• Experience managing large-scale genomic data in HPC environments (SGE, SLURM, PBS) or cloud platforms
• Proficiency with GIT version control and ability to maintain reproducible workflows and documentation
• Experience designing and maintaining databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and connecting to visualization platforms
• Bachelor's degree with two years relevant experience or Master's degree in quantitative or basic science
• Strong communication skills, detail orientation, and ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments
