Senior Underwriter, Builder's Risk, Large Commercial Construction

AXA XL’s Builders Risk team is seeking a Senior Level Builders Risk Underwriter in North America to tailor high‑touch effective solutions for large contractors and owners. Responsibilities Market to producers to secure new and renewal business. Review submissions, terms, conditions, statement of values, loss history and catastrophic modeling to determine risk using the company Builders Risk Guidelines. Coordinate with business divisions (Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory, etc.) to support our operations. Determine quotes or decline risk. Calculate rates and premium charges in accordance with approved rating models. Develop or modify policy wording when standard forms are not appropriate, within delegated underwriting authority. Cross‑sell relevant products and services. Support service standards in the delivery of builder’s risk products. Mentor, supervise, and motivate underwriters, underwriting assistants, and other team members. Lead and participate in special projects assigned by senior management. Report to the Head of Construction Property. Qualifications Extensive Commercial Builders Risk underwriting experience. Experience underwriting Energy and Renewables construction projects and working with general contractors, construction managers, and owners. Knowledge of other construction lines of business is a plus. Self‑directed work style with strong team‑player attitude and active listening skills. Robust insured and broker interaction within the assigned geographic territory. Excellent written and oral communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external brokers. Outstanding organizational, time‑management, and multi‑tasking abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced education or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, IIA, CRIS) preferred.
