Position Description:

CGI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer/Developer to design, build, and maintain high-performance applications supporting Congress.gov's legislative information mission. The Engineer will develop secure, cloud-ready components integrated within LOC's enterprise development environment, delivering reliable, accessible, and scalable solutions for congressional data and public transparency.

Your Future Duties and Responsibilities:

· Develop microservices, APIs, and modular application components.
· Write secure, efficient, maintainable code for large-scale data and public-facing systems.
· Build automated tests and ensure enterprise software quality standards.
· Integrate applications with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps tooling.
· Support modernization efforts, refactoring legacy functionality into cloud-ready designs.
· Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional LOC and CGI teams.

Required Qualifications to Be Successful in This Role:

· U.S. Citizenship
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
· 7+ years of professional software development experience
· Proficiency in languages such as Java and Python
· Proficiency in MySQL, Mongo DB, Solr, and Oracle
· Experience with secure coding practices and federal software development environments
· Experience with PHP (/Symfony), Angular, and Node
· Experience contributing within Agile/Scrum teams
Desired Qualifications
· Experience developing on AWS or other cloud platforms
· Experience modernizing legacy components to cloud-native architectures
· Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks, containerization, and API-first design
