Position Summary:
As a Direct Family Services Facilitator (1099 Contractor), you will play a crucial role in facilitating, assisting, supervising, and supporting children and families in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) and/or juvenile probation. The Facilitator provides individualized, family-centered services designed to promote child safety, strengthen family functioning, support positive parenting, prevent unnecessary placement or escalation to more restrictive settings, and assist families in achieving the goals outlined in their DCS case or service plan.
Services may be provided in the family's home, visitation centers, foster homes, schools, community settings, or other approved locations. Depending on the referral and individualized service plan, responsibilities may include supervised visitation, day reporting, homemaker services, comprehensive home-based services, parent education, transportation, parenting engagement, and other approved family-support services.
The Direct Family Services Facilitator supports families through strength-based, individualized, and skill-focused interventions designed to improve parenting capacity, strengthen family relationships, increase self-sufficiency, address behavioral concerns, maintain children safely in their homes when appropriate, and support successful reunification and permanency. The Facilitator works as part of a multidisciplinary team and adapts services to the assessed needs of each child and family while remaining consistent with the DCS case plan and/or juvenile probation requirements.
Core Responsibilities:
Supervised Parent Visits
- Facilitate safe, supervised visits between children and their parents, siblings, or other family members as directed by DCS or juvenile probation.
- Protect the integrity of the visit by creating a neutral, safe, and structured environment for interaction.
- Observe and document parent-child interactions using professional, objective language and submit reports in compliance with DCS timelines and standards.
- Provide real-time redirection, coaching, and guidance when needed to support positive parent-child engagement.
- Follow individualized visitation plans and court mandates, including location, duration, and level of supervision.
Day Reporting
- Provide intensive supervision, intervention, and prevention services for youth who exhibit disruptive, delinquent, or other behaviors that may place them at risk of removal from the home or placement in a more restrictive setting.
- Monitor youth participation, behavior, progress, and compliance with established expectations and service plans.
- Collaborate with parents, DCS, juvenile probation, schools, and other involved professionals to address barriers and support positive outcomes.
Homemaker Services
- Provide assistance and support to parents who are experiencing difficulty fulfilling parenting and household functions.
- Assist families in developing practical skills that promote stability, organization, safety, and self-sufficiency.
- Assist parents in identifying and utilizing community resources and supports.
Home-Based Case Services
- Provide comprehensive and intensive home-based services to families involved with DCS and/or juvenile probation to address both short-term and long-term family needs.
- Conduct assessments of the child, parent(s), and family to identify strengths, needs, barriers, and areas requiring intervention.
- Assist in developing and implementing appropriate service and treatment plans based on assessed needs and consistent with the DCS case plan.
- Monitor progress toward identified goals and communicate relevant observations and concerns to DCS case managers, probation officers, and other members of the service team.
Parent Education
- Provide education and support related to parenting, discipline, child development, communication, and healthy parent-child relationships.
- Teach parents practical tools and strategies to assist with the lifelong responsibilities of nurturing, disciplining, guiding, and loving their children.
- Reinforce skills that promote long-term family stability, healthy relationships, and increased parental self-sufficiency.
Documentation and Communication
- Maintain accurate, timely, and objective documentation of all services provided, including attendance, contact hours, observations, interventions, progress, barriers, and significant events.
- Submit required documentation and progress summaries within established DCS, juvenile probation, and agency timelines.
- Communicate professionally and appropriately with case managers, probation officers, parents, caregivers, schools, treatment providers, and other members of the service team.
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, neutrality, and ethical standards while providing services.
- Follow all applicable court orders, DCS requirements, individualized service plans, agency policies, and safety protocols.
- Provide transportation when authorized as part of the family's service plan and in accordance with applicable policies and safety requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
