Certified Veterinary Technician

Full-Time or Part-Time | Competitive Pay Based on Experience Sibley Animal Hospital is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and detail-oriented Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our team of CVT's and technicians and veterinary assistants. We are a small animal general practice that uses Eastern, Western, and Integrative treatment modalities to offer the best options for our patients. We are looking for a reliable, experienced technician (willing to consider recent graduates) who brings clinical competence, excellent communication skills, the ability to lead and be led by co-workers, brings a pleasant and professional attitude to work, and has a strong work ethic to every shift. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who takes initiative, is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and wants to grow their skills in all aspects of small animal medicine. Key Responsibilities: Assist veterinarians with physical exams, surgical procedures, dental cleanings, and treatments Prepare and monitor patients before, during, and after surgery with close attention to safety and comfort Administer medications, vaccines, and prescribed treatments Perform in-house laboratory diagnostics (e.g., bloodwork, urinalysis, ear cytology, general cytology slides) Capture, process, and properly assign digital and dental radiographs Provide attentive post-operative care and support recovery monitoring Record, review, and assess notes for accuracy and transfer to correct medical records -using scribed notes and practice management software (EzyVet) Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding home care and follow-up Communicate as directed by doctors lab results to clients Review client requests for medications and concerns and communicate to appropriate doctor for next steps Maintain clean, organized exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites Adhere to all safety, handling, and infection control protocols Maintain equipment and adhere to scheduled maintenance dates Perform monthly inventory checks and assist in maintaining monthly inventory Assist in oversight of kennel staff and kennel responsibilities. Must be able to multitask efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment Work both independently and collaboratively within the medical team Qualifications: Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in the state of Illinois Proven experience in small animal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and in-house diagnostics Strong attendance and punctuality are essential—must be dependable and accountable Proficient in anesthesia monitoring, patient restraint, and technical procedures Familiarity with EzyVet software preferred but not required Spanish-speaking is a plus but not required Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation and adherence to direction Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client education and ability to express empathy and understanding to clients Eagerness to continue learning and developing your professional skillset Why Sibley Animal Hospital?
