Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $66,000 - $99,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Plainwell that are seeking Environmental Health & Safety Specialists. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents, recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver EHS training programs to employees on topics such as lockout/tagout, confined space, and hazard communication.
• Manage hazardous waste disposal and ensure compliance with waste management regulations.
• Maintain EHS records and documentation, including permits, training logs, and incident reports.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related science/engineering field.
• 3+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
• Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage EHS programs and training.
• Experience with hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation methodologies.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) are a plus.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 implementation
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) in progress
• Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish
• Experience with ergonomics assessments and improvements
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles
