Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a difference supporting K-12 students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing through an impactful contract assignment for the 2026-2027 school year. This part-time opportunity is ideal for educators passionate about helping students develop communication skills, achieve academic success, and thrive in a vibrant school community. Both onsite and VOCO (virtual/remote) educators are encouraged to apply, providing maximum flexibility for your teaching style and professional needs.
Qualifications:
- Active Michigan teaching license for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education (required—please confirm status through the Michigan Department of Education)
- Experience or relevant training supporting Deaf / Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with students, families, and school staff
- Comfortable working onsite or via virtual classroom technology
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction for K-12 students with hearing differences, utilizing evidence-based strategies
- Develop, implement, and monitor progress on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student access and participation
- Maintain accurate records and compliance with state and federal educational guidelines
- Provide consultative support and resources to staff and families
- Engage with students for 10 hours each week throughout the school year
