Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring active KS or compact licensure and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Job Details

• Acute care setting in a 10-bed ICU currently reopening,
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:2,
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, extremity pain, and patients on insulin drips,
• RNs required to titrate drips including vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, metabolic, and specialized drips,
• Hospitalist or intensivist in house and RT coverage in ICU 24/7 with CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilator equipment,
• Tele tech on duty 24/7 monitoring telemetry and ICU patients using GE monitors,
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment and no nurse aides on the unit,
• Day shift schedule with self-scheduling and block scheduling options,
• Required to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule,
• Holiday coverage required,
• Call or standby requirement determined by the nurse manager,
• May float to other acuity levels including ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele, and may float within the designated zone if needed,
• EPIC EMR used,

Job Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license required,
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required,
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required,
• Seasoned ICU RNs preferred given this is a reopening unit,
• Driver's license copy required for consideration,
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility,

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a reopening ICU, including drip titration and monitoring of critically ill patients,
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to meet residency requirements,
• Float radius policy applies, requiring travelers to secure housing that allows floating within the assigned zone,
• Navy blue scrubs required,
• Unit-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week,
• Clinicians should plan to be in-state for orientation week even if initial training modules are remote,
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year, though PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
