Mechanical Engineer II Raleigh, NC Pay: $62.00 per hour 26-09542 Job summary The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and components. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to innovate, improve, and optimize products and processes. Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components, systems, and assemblies using CAD software and engineering principles. Conduct engineering analyses, simulations, and tests to validate designs, ensure performance, and mitigate risks. Collaborate with product design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to meet design requirements and specifications. Evaluate and select materials, components, and suppliers based on performance, cost, and reliability. Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and problem-solving activities to address design challenges and optimization opportunities. Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities, including designing and fabricating test fixtures and prototypes. Document design specifications, engineering drawings, test plans, and reports in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or product design focused on mechanical systems and components. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., Finite Element Analysis). Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles including statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science. Experience with product development processes including design, prototyping, testing, and validation. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop innovative solutions. Effective communication skills to present technical information clearly and concisely. Preferred Skills Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) software and tools. Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles. Knowledge of regulatory standards applicable to mechanical engineering (e.g., ASME, ISO). Experience with mechatronics, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
