Job Summary Paramedic – Full Time. Variable shift hours. Location: 175 Industrial Park Rd – Pearisburg, Virginia. The Paramedic administers life‑support care and transports patients in pre‑hospital settings under physician authorization. Responsibilities include responding to medical emergencies (911), providing cardiac and trauma support, initiating emergency procedures (intubation, defibrillation, extrication), and maintaining patient records and supplies. The role requires advanced clinical knowledge, effective communication, and a clean driving record. Key Responsibilities Administer life support care and transport to patients in pre‑hospital settings under physician direction. Respond to medical emergencies, providing cardiac and trauma support and initial treatment at the emergency scene. Gather and analyze patient information, including emotional aspects, and adjust treatment as needed. Manage difficult customer situations while maintaining confidentiality. Assess illness or injury severity to prioritize medical procedures and request additional assistance when necessary. Restore and stabilize heart rhythm in pulseless, non‑breathing patients. Initiate IV therapy and administer medications, drugs, or fluids. Perform emergency procedures: patient extrication, intubation, defibrillation, and operate under ACLS protocol. Administer injections and treat life‑threatening arrhythmias, respiratory compromise, shock, trauma, and pediatric cases. Observe, record, and report patient condition and response to treatments to physicians or command center leaders. Keep current with treatment techniques, protocol updates, and new drug applications. Take responsibility for own actions and those of support team members. Prepare required reports and maintain activity records. Obtain patient information for insurance billing and understand covered vs. non‑covered charges for ambulance services. Coordinate activities with external entities when necessary. Inspect daily units, clean, stock supplies, and report malfunctions to the in‑house mechanic. Maintain supplies and use resources appropriately. Transport patients safely to hospitals or non‑hospital sites. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. No experience required. Certified Virginia Paramedic. Must hold AHA BLS‑HCP, ACLS, PALS, HazMat Awareness, NRP, and PHTLS or BTLS certifications within one year of hire. Maintain advanced transport medical knowledge and abilities. Maintain an excellent driving record and qualify to operate emergency vehicles. Fulfill continuing education hours required for recertification per state and national standards. Provide current driving record to meet eligibility requirements. Utilize excellent communication skills with staff, peers, patients, and families in diverse situations. Write clear reports and present numerical data effectively. Maintain basic computer skills and proficiency with applicable software. Compensation & Benefits Hourly rate starts at $25.77, with credit for experience. A $15,000 sign‑on bonus is available for external candidates who meet eligibility requirements.
