Production Supervisor

Job Overview Production Supervisor (R10094011) – Airgas, Muscatine, IA. Responsible for supervising dry ice production and packaging. Schedule: 6:00am – 6:00pm, 2‑2‑3 rotating shift. Responsibilities Guide plant operators in production, packaging of dry ice, shipping preparation, and loading/unloading commercial trucks. Coordinate and guide safe start‑up, shutdown, and efficient operation of the dry ice plant. Ensure production resources (labor, materials, equipment) meet demand through coordination with the local branch. Communicate operational status continuously to plant and branch managers. Interview and welcome new production associates; complete written evaluations and annual reviews. Guide, develop, and mentor associates to ensure compliance with Airgas policies and procedures. Track supply inventories to maintain adequate materials for production. Adhere to safety and quality policies, identifying and resolving safety hazards and quality deficiencies. Operate a forklift on an occasional basis to meet production needs. Lead and work safely in a noisy environment with elevated CO₂ vapor; occasionally lift 5–50lb dry‑ice blocks. Work Environment 70% of the time in an unconditioned space (warm in summer, cool in winter); 30% in an office setting. Hazards require personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes. Dry ice handling requires gloves. On‑call and shift work are required. Required Qualifications High School diploma with extensive experience, including at least three (3) years supervising 10+ production workers in an industrial setting. Strong decision‑making skills to enforce company policies, plant procedures, and discipline staff fairly and professionally. Excellent written and verbal communication for reports, personnel files, time tracking, and inventory management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, email) and higher‑level math skills for budgeting and cost control. Ability to work and lead in a noisy environment with elevated CO₂ vapor; occasional lifting of 5–50lb dry‑ice blocks. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree preferred. Prior knowledge of operating ice‑plant machinery (block presses, saws, pelletizers, valves). Active forklift certification.
