Schweiger provides medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology and allergy services with over 2.5 million patient visits annually.

Job Summary: The Lab Supervisor/Anatomic Pathology responsibilities for microscopic tissue slides for diagnostic purposes; performs tissue stains to assist in diagnosis; handles specimen grossing; maintains laboratory and equipment.

Schedule: Full Time, 30+ hours in our NY Pathology Lab. Availability Monday through Friday within operating hours of 1:00pm - 9:30pm. Flexibility to help cover in a team environment is needed.

Specific duties include:

• Accessioning, typing, specimen send outs and TC component send outs.
• Performing Grossing, Embedding, Microtomy and Staining
• Accurate and timely preparation and staining of histology specimen.
• Using standard aseptic procedure and safeguards.
• IHC and Special Stains
• Controlling contaminated specimen
• Preparing slides
• Controlling waste management
• Ensuring equipment is operated and maintained according to manufacturer's guidelines and ensuring supplies are adequate for the work to be performed.
• Maintaining accurate records for quality control, quality assurance and patient data.
• EMR-LIS related integration and solving troubleshooting.
• Assist office level customer service for pathology related issues.
• Following OSHA, HIPAA and CLIA guidelines.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience required.
• Knowledge of programming and operation of general laboratory and automated JHC
• Research skills.
• Interpersonal/human relations skills.
• Ability to operate personal computer.
• Ability to approach problems/decisions analytically.
• Ability to maintain records.
• Ability to use microscope/cryostat, tissue processors, and stainers.
• Ability/willingness to adhere to the established departmental service standards.

Hourly Pay Range: $ 38.04 - $47.55
